Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IV, V, VI, VII, VIII Mitsubishi Lancer FWD 2001 and up Mitsubishi Eclipse 2000 and up Estimated Installation Time: 30-45 Minutes Tools Required: -Philips head screwdriver -8mm wrench -10mm wrench -12mm wrench -8mm, 10mm, and 12mm sockets and ratchet -Bench vise -Grinder 1. Carefully unscrew the stock shift knob. 2. Remove ashtray and screw beneath it. 3. Remove two screws from inside t center console storage com he part men t. 4. Lift up on the rear section of the center console and unclip it from the front section. 5. Remove plastic screw from the driver’s side of the center console (near the gas pedal). Remove the plastic cover and the pop rivet b it. Then remove the two screws at rear of the console (were hidden b the rearward part of the center consol that was removed). en eath the y e 6. Unclip plastic connector at the rear of the console. Remove entire center console. 7. Loosen and remove the bolts at the front and rear of the plastic assembly. Note the order these parts are in as they must be replaced in the same order later in the installation. Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution: The f bolt does not need to be comp removed from the plastic assembly, only pulled out enough to allow the to part of the plastic assembly to b off. Now remove the top of the assembly exposing the top of the shifter main pivot ball. ront letely p e lifted 8. Remove the clip on the bottom of the shifter, which connects it to the lower shifter cable. Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution: Remove the plastic pivot cup from the lower shifter cable. Also remove the clip attaching the left side shifter cable to the shifter arm. The stock shifter can now be removed. 9. For an Evolution 8 follow this step: using a grinder, shave down the sides of the counterweight / boot support in order to remove the white plastic cup. This in no way damages the stock shifter and it is still usable after the procedure. This enables you to remove the white plastic retaining ring without any cutting. 10. Now remove the rubber bushings at the 4 corners of the plastic assembly and replace with the aluminum bushings supplied with the kit by placing them beneath the plastic assembly. Use the M8 x 25mm bolts supplied with the kit and place the large washers on top of the assembly, followed by the small washers. Thread the bolts through the 2 washers to secure the assembly to the floor. 11. Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution: Use the cup remover tool i with the kit to remove both plastic cu on the original shifter. To do so, place the cup remover tool on top of the open jaws of a vice, the jaws shoul be approximately 1″ apart. Hang shifter from the tool as shown. Be sure the shifter is inserted comple into the slot in the tool. Insert a punch into the center hole through the plas cup and tap firmly with a hammer to separate the original shifter from cup. Repeat for 2nd cup on the side arm o the shifter…
